A masterpiece of racing history: the Porsche 996 GT2-R from PSI Motorsport

The Porsche 996 GT2-R is a remarkable piece of motorsport history. Originally built in 2000 based on a 996 GT3 Cup body, this car served as a development vehicle and basis for homologation for the PSI Motorsport Team in the FIA/GT Championship.

This first PSI 996 GT2-R took part in numerous FIA GT championship races in 2001 with the VIN #WPOZZZ99ZXS569119#. The car also showed its mettle in the Belcar Championship and the prestigious 24 Hours of Spa at Spa-Francorchamps.

From race track to classic: the 996 GT2-R's journey

After competing in the FIA/GT Championship in 2001 and 2002, the 996 GT2-R was sold to Philippe Tillie Competition in France in the winter of 2002. The duo of Philippe Tillie and Georges Cabane successfully entered the vehicle in the French GT/FFSA Championship from 2003 onwards.

Years later, the Almeras brothers were commissioned to maintain and drive the car for the its new owner, Pierre Martinet.

The rare PSI 996 GT2-R Twin-Turbo models are the perfect choice for participating in Peter Auto's Endurance Racing Legend Championship – and are therefore also contenders for the inaugural Le Mans 24H Classics race.

The Porsche 996 GT2-R: ready for the future

Over the past 18 months, the team has worked as a competent partner to implement a comprehensive and seamless system for the supply of spare parts for overhauling and maintaining these racing cars. This means that all the expertise and uninterrupted supply of parts as set out in the homologation specifications at the time will once again be available to all proud owners of an original PSI Porsche 996 GT2-R.

Harking back to the FIA/GT era of the early 2000s, the Porsche 996 GT2-R from PSI Motorsport is one of the few cars that can be used in historic racing and club sport championships from 2025 onwards without having to forgo a full supply of spare parts and adequate racing service.
