Markus Palttala: a champion of endurance GT racing

Markus Palttala, a Finnish professional racing driver, started his career in karting, where he honed his racing skills and tireless competitive spirit. Following a promising spell in single-seater racing, he switched to touring cars, where he was discovered by the PSI Motorsport team manager Christian Schumacher at Zandvoort in 2000. This encounter led to test drives, during which Palttala set impressive lap times and quickly became part of the PSI Motorsport team.

His advancement in GT racing

He started in the German Touring Car Championship in 2001 and was mentored by Christian Schumacher in the Porsche Carrera Cup, where he laid the foundation for his greatest successes in GT racing. At PSI Motorsport, the cars he drove included the PSI FIA/GT 996 GT2-R, the Ford GT40 and the Corvette C5-R and C6-R, which significantly advanced his development as an endurance racing specialist.

Successes in the world's greatest endurance races

Markus Palttala has competed in some of the world's most prestigious endurance races, including the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Spa, Nürburgring, Dubai and the 12 Hours of Bathurst. His ability to drive cars economically and competitively made him a much sought-after driver and an integral part of international endurance racing.

Technical expert and mentor

In addition to his racing successes, Palttala was also active as a test and development driver. His technical feedback has been crucial to the development of the race cars he has driven. In the later years of his career, he also took on a mentoring role, in which he trains both young and older drivers at various international race tracks, particularly in the handling of modern GT racing cars – and understandably, preferably those from PSI Motorsport.
