A motor racing event in Italy is always a thrill.
Home to some of the world’s finest sporting brands – Alfa Romeo, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Lancia, Maserati… – and genuine automotive jewels in the collective imagination. Home to some of the world’s greatest racetracks – Monza, Imola, Mugello… – arenas for the finest mechanical jousts. As the cradle of a certain art of living and an ancestral cultural heritage, Italy was bound to feature on the Peter Auto calendar. After the first four editions of the Imola-Classic in 2012, 2013, 2016 and 2018, Peter Auto returns for the fifth time to the famous Autodromo Enzo & Dino Ferrari.
Inaugurated in 1953, the Imola circuit hosted its first motor race the following year. But it wasn’t until 1963 that the first F1 race was held there (non-championship). It wasn’t until 1980 that Imola hosted its first Italian Grand Prix, and then from 1981 to 2006, the 26 editions of the San Marino Grand Prix, seven of which were won by Michael Schumacher (record). Imola is one of a minority of European circuits that run counter-clockwise. A track to which Peter Auto has invited its grids.
